Popcorn is one of America’s oldest snack foods, but small-batch gourmet popcorn maker Maddy & Maize is looking to make the healthy treat taste fresher than ever.
Minnesota-based owner Brett Striker set out to create a line of snack food that was good enough for adults as well as Maddy, the daughter of a close friend. Made with all-natural, local high-quality ingredients, Maddy & Maize is made from non-GMO corn kernels and offers organic and vegan options.
Varietals are inspired by food memories from Striker’s own life, like the punchy Bourbon Barbecue, which came together after a culinary road trip in search of America’s best BBQ. Unique flavors are crunchy and delicious, like the savory Thai Coconut Curry, sweet Cookies & Cream, and the addictive Aged White Cheddar, made with real organic aged white cheddar cheese. One especially fun flavor called Birthday Cake even features housemade rainbow “sprinkles” made from vegan white chocolate and colored with fruit and vegetable juice. It’s a nostalgic, sweet-and-salty treat for snackers of every age.
A different story detailing Striker’s popcorn-making journey is told on the bags of each flavor in his lineup. The Dark Chocolate Caramel bag shares how he perfected a caramel made without high-fructose corn syrup in his apartment kitchen. Striker was inspired to create his Lemon Raspberry Layer Cake popcorn after a life-changing slice of cake at his cousin’s wedding.
