Ballast Point is heading to the great Midwest. The popular San Diego-based craft brewery today announced it’s opening a tasting room and kitchen in Chicago’s Fulton Market District in early 2018.
The newest location will house a three-barrel “research and development” brewery, restaurant and rooftop bar, with plans to serve iconic Ballast Point beers—like the flagship Sculpin IPA—alongside exclusive, limited-edition beers available only at the brewery in Chicago. The restaurant will also serve favorite dishes from the San Diego brewpubs as well as unique Chicago fare to be announced.
Ballast Point currently operates six tasting room locations in California including Little Italy in San Diego and Long Beach, and a new brewery and tasting room in Daleville, Virginia. The Fulton Market location will be the brewery’s first spot in the Midwest.
Ballast Point started in 1996 with a small group of home brewers. Today, the brewery is known for its unique flavor profiles, such as bringing a hoppy twist to a porter, or adding four types of malt to its amber ale.
